Born in Cardiff, Wales, Simon Hughes lived in Britain and Switzerland before immigrating to the United States, ultimately settling in Texas.  He earned a business degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and a law degree from Texas Tech School of Law in Lubbock, Texas.

In 1990, Mr. Hughes began his legal career with one of Houston's oldest and largest firms, representing a variety of companies, including insurance syndicates at "Lloyds".  While the general experience gained in a "big firm" environment was quite useful, Mr. Hughes soon realized that he could not reconcile the "big firm" mentality with his own convictions as to exactly how clients should be represented.  Ultimately, Mr. Hughes established The Hughes Law Firm, developing a diverse practice representing individuals and businesses in a variety of legal matters.  In 2002, Mr. Hughes obtained board certification
in Consumer and Commercial Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Mr. Hughes handles each case entrusted to The Hughes Law Firm, including all pre-trial, trial, and appellate matters.  In more than twenty years of practice, he has encountered, literally, hundreds of different legal issues, each of the utmost concern to that particular client.  In addition to developing proficiency as a trial lawyer, Mr. Hughes has significant experience handling insurance claims, consumer protection claims, personal injury actions, product liability claims, business formation and structure (including choice of entity) issues, Purchase and Sale Agreements, Buy-Sell Agreements, intellectual property rights (including licensing), business and individual contract issues, and debt collection matters.  Regularly working with other select counsel, Mr. Hughes provides tax and estate planning guidance to his clients.  The depth of these experiences, both inside and outside the courtroom, provides Mr. Hughes with the good judgment to
know exactly when and how a matter should be handled, including the most advantageous way to utilize the court systems.  While Mr. Hughes cannot handle every possible matter which may be presented by a potential client, his broad knowledge and experience in working with other attorneys in specialty practices, makes him an invaluable resource in locating a suitable attorney for your particular needs.

Mr. Hughes is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in the State of Texas, and has handled cases throughout the country.  Routinely, when it is in the best interest of his client, Mr. Hughes will choose to associate other prominent lawyers, to assure the best possible representation for his clients.

In his free time, Mr. Hughes enjoys running, sailing, wine, art, and travel.  He resides in Jersey Village, with his wife and beagle.
